Teak (Tectona grandis) is a native essence from the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. Since 1990 Berneck has been planting this hardwood with excellent results in its reforestation areas of 4.000 hectares in the state of Mato Grosso, Central region of Brazil.

Properties and Characteristicss - Its coloration yellow-gold to brown may present dark veins of great decorative effect. With time it takes a pleasant grayish coloring; - As the forest is still young, our wood presents sapwood and pith; - Practically does not crack or fissure which allows perfect finish; - Mean density of 650 Kg/m3 - it is light however very resistant; - Naturally immune to attack of termites, wood-boring beetles, woodworms and other insects; - High resistance to weathering therefore can be exposed to weather conditions; - We can offer AD (air dried) lumber or KD (kiln dried) for better dimensional stability.

Certifications Berneck complies with all Brazilian forestry regulations and works with the Brazilian government certifications (IBAMA - Environmental and Natural Renewable Resources Brazilian Institute).
