Description

Teca Tectona grandis is native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia and BERNECK® has been reforesting with excellent results in its forest areas in the state of Mato Grosso, therefore with guaranteed origin. It is a noble and widely used and appreciated wood on the five continents. It has a golden-yellow to brown color, and may have dark veins with a great decorative effect. It is naturally immune to attack from termites, borers, woodworm, and other insects. With an average density of 650 kg/m3 (at 18% humidity), it is a light yet very resistant wood. Even without the protection of oil, paint or varnish, the lumber of Teca can be buried or exposed to the weather without deteriorating – the durability of the core is due to the "tectoquinone", a natural condom contained in the wood cells. It is not sensitive to variations in humidity in the environment, being an essential characteristic in the case of doors, windows and drawers, allowing them to open, close, and run smoothly.

Machinability

Due to its medium texture and glossy surface, the Teca Wood can be easily sawn, planed, sanded, and drilled.
It does not break or crack, which allows a neat finish.
Despite its oily nature, it accepts being glued very well, making it possible to use it to manufacture any piece.

We supply the BERNECK® TECA rough-sawn and planed:

Kiln-dried (KD) or air-dried (AD)
With Sapwood and heartwood
Without heartwood in some thickness variations

Uses and Applications

Suitable for furniture in general, interior and exterior decoration, household utensils, tool cord, art objects and decoration, windows, frames, doors, naval industry, among other applications.
